Life Lessons From Surf School

I went to surf school recently while on a short solo trip to a beach destination in India. The trainer I went with, a really easy-going guy and a great trainer, has been running his surf school in Goa for a few years now.
Over two sessions, I realised that pretty much most things taught in a surf class can metaphorically be used as life lessons. I had to quickly note down some of the tips, here they are!
- Ride the wave.
- When you see a big wave coming, walk into it head-on. Don’t let the wave break on your head.
- Take a deep breath, focus ahead, let go of the thoughts, your body knows what to do.
- Take it slow, no need to rush. You have all the time in the world.
- It’s okay if you fall, don’t panic. Just let go. You’ll be up on your feet in no time.
- A little bit of regular practice, and you’ll be riding smoothly in no time!
- Some practice on the shore prepares you better for the sea.
Which one do you relate with most?
